Default HiTi 630PS vs. HiTi 640PS

I'm looking to get a HiTi photo printer and I am wondering if it's worth the extra bucks to get the 640PS instead of the 630PS. I've got a Canon Powershot S50. Will the extra resolution of the 640PS make my images sharper even though the 630PS is above the resolution limit of my camera?

Thanks in advance.

I have the 630PS and if picture quality is better, it must be fantastic. Your camera uses CF and the 630PS supports this memory type. The nerds.net has the printer on for $172. The 640PS is $299. I would spend the extra money on photo kits. If you plan to upgrade your camera in the next year that supports a different memory type than cf or sm then purchase the 640ps. Be sure to download all the updates for the firmware, drivers, and application program.

I ended up ordering the 630PL from ********.net because I could never envision taking along the printer somewhere without also taking my laptop. I added 4 photo kits and the price worked out to what I would pay for the 630PS.

This little printer is something else! I had a problem printing at first, but it was resolved when I went out and bought a USB powered hub instead of using the USB port on the back of my keyboard.

The combination of my new Canon PowerShot S50 and my HiTi 630PL sure beats my old setup of a HP315 camera and HP PhotoSmart P1000 printer!

I found a review someplace with photos and the 640 did look better and they say it has brighter colors plus more resolution so I bought it. Don't have it yet though to tell you anything more.

Congradulations. It is an amazing printer. I hope you downloaded and installed the firmware updates. I love this printer.

Congradulations also. Please post your review once you receive the printer. I will be interested in what you think. It prints at 400 dpi vs the 630 300 dpi. It also excepts many more memory types.

I am also interested in purchasing a hiti printer (pref the 630ps). I have an Olympus Mju300 camera which takes the xD picture card. Do any of the budget HiTi printers accept this card?

I live in England and am finding it hard to find a hiti stockist. Do you know of any American websites which ship internationally?

Nerds.com as you mentioned is selling the 630ps at $170, whereas the european stockists that I found seem to be selling at around $400-$500!!!!

The 630ps supports CF and SM cards only.
