Default HiTi Paper Availability

If HiTi goes out of business will there still be paper? OR in your experience does some other type of paper work?

Here's Robert Sun's (HiTi) response:
Since we do not make our own paper or ribbon (it is outsourced) then our
going out of business would not mean the end of supplies. But no, you
cannot use paper or ribbon from other brands because inkjet paper will
jam and dye-sub supplies from other printers may be of a different
composition.

Thanks!

I do not believe that is a question about the paper but more about the ribbon that comes in the paper pack. I have heard nothing about HiTi going out of business. The printer is so good that I am sure that someone would buy the company to keep the printer line going. However, my dad also bought an Edsel (you will need to be over 55 to understand the comment).

No, HiTi is not going out of business! Please don't jump to that conclusion from my post. Now I know how rumors get started Carl.

My question was hypothetical only because I believe HiTi is a smaller company and I was wondering what the risks were of buying their printer.

I have not been able to find a source who says it is possible to use other paper/ribbons with HiTi.

No big deal, the one I'm looking at only costs $180 anyway so it's not a huge loss if the company did fail.

Having said that, I've only read good things about the company and I would have to believe that they have a good chance at making it long term.

Well, that is good news! I love my 630PS and hope that they will some day make a 8"x10" model
