What is the difference in print quality between Hi Touch's 640Gala (which is rated 403 dpi) versus the 730PS (300dpi). In other words, would we really be able to see a difference with the unaided eye in photos taken with a Canon G5 at highest resolution?

We like the different size options of the 730PS but wonder if it's better to have the higher resolution of the new 640Gala.

I have both units. I can't really tell the difference between the two.

Remember that you are dealing with a continous tone process (just the same as Labs use). There are no tiny little spaces between dots. Also keep in mind this is a Thermal process, the color is heated and blended at the time of printing, plus a clear, water resistant coating goes on last.

Ink jets work on a dpi basis and yes there is a wide variety in that process.
