I began looking at dye-subs a few months ago and had settled on the P-440. As always, something came up and I had to delay the purchase. I'm now looking to make the purchase within the next week or so. I obtained some prints from a P-440 recently and the color was not as great as a developed print from Ez-prints or Mpix. THe color was a tad off and was not as deep or saturated. This started my second guessing problem.

My original hesitation on dye-subs wasmy experience with a Sony 4x6 dye sub. It was by far the worst printer I'd ever had with colors tending to have too much red and over saturated. I'm just afraid the Olympus may have similar issues but I don't see anyone complaining.

I guess my question is this. Does your P-440 have accurate color reproduction? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the output? Would you recommend another printer (maybe Kodak's new dye sub) or would you buy the Olympus again?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi there,

just bought a used P-400. Even though I have a strange scratching noise during printing (see other post) I am very pleased with the prints.

So far I had an Epson 1200, 830 U and R300 and I never got accurate color managment.

With the P-400 I so far have great experiences, except for B&W where I get a green cast.

I use Qimage to convert the pictures. They offer an ICC profile for 25 $ for the P-400 printer and it works well. I also have the correct ICC for my monitor and with itthe print looks in Qimage exactly the way it looks on the print.

Not so good by the way with Photoshop so I assume Qimage plus the money for the ICC profile has to be spend.

No complains except for Black and White.
