Does the Kodak 500 do matte prints?

I am trying to decide between it and the 730 ps, which does matte. But that would not be the deal breaker.

I know all the different specs, thanks to Steve's great reviews, but how does the quality and ease of use compare between them?

This printer needs to be easy enough to be used by less tech-patient family members as well as me. The kodak looks great in that deparment.

Thanks,

DanB

As far as I'm aware the Kodak 500 does not do matte. The 730PS theoretically does matte but in reality it simulates it by randomly varying the temperature of the print head when the final thermal layer is laid down. The results aren't that great but then most dye-subs have problems producing matte finishes.
