Thanks you guys for all the advice re dye sub printers ... we've taken the plunge and our new HiTi 730PS should be here tomorrow ... what do you recommend to get started ... should I print via memory card or PC, which photo editor if any should I use - the only ones I have are the Kodak Easyshare one and the Canon Zoombrowser, gather the HiTi comes with one too ... or do I need to invest in another? What about the download fixes from the HiTi website ... are there any I shouldn't do without? All advice as ever is welcome ... thanks!

Hi Liz4855,

Hope everything is ok with printer have fun, hope you ordered loads of paper/ink packs you will be printing loads!!

I have only downloaded the driver update from HITI uk web site, not bothered with the firmware update as I haven't had any problems with mine.

I've only used the Photodesiree software that comes with the HiTi to print out, adjusted photos in elements first then used the other software to print.

I'm on the avoid post processing as much as possible side of the fence.....for now anyway!

I have printed out from card and PC, for speed, slap the ribbon and paper tray in switch on and put the memory card in then use the hand held controller to select, edit and print!

Looks great when that first ones comes out, then back in then back out:lol:

Have fun

Ian

I'm very tempted to purchase the hiti730ps but i'm just wondering of the cost effectiveness? i mean how much does the paper and cartridges cost? i'm into scrapbooking so the hiti is going to be perfect for me. we currently just take our memory card to jessops or boots to get printed, but obviously if i want more flexibility i.e stickers, passport size or amending the photo then that's where the hiti comes in!

Hi SuzanneWW,

I don't hammer mine that much, but I wouldn't say the cost is that bad check out,

www.systeminsight.co.uk

I bought my printer from these guys and buy my paper/ribbon packs as well, I think they do specials as well if you order alot from them.

They may even throw in some packs if you buy the printer.

When you get the prices of the different paper packs you can easily work out how much per print it will be.

I can't recommend the printer enough, it's excellent!

Cheers Ian
