I am looking for the best monitor for photo editing and surfing the web. I don't play games. I want it to be 24" and around 5-6 hundred. What can you suggest?

You may want to take a look at the new Dell U2410. It uses an IPS Panel type.

Is that all there is to choose from? I read a lot of bad things about this one.

No. There are a number of different monitors. That's just a new model from Dell I noticed mentioned elsewhere, that appears to be an improvement over the older 24" models Dell used with better (non TN) panels like the Dell 2408WFP. Reviews appear to be a bit mixed so far. But, for under $600, the new U2410 appears to be a very good value for this type of panel (H-IPS). Most of the cheaper monitors use TN panels.
You may also want to look at the HP LP2475W (it's in the same general price range). Another one I've seen mentioned is the Philips 240PW9EB. |
