hi guys, I have recently bought a Canon 350D but have not started using the software yet, hence my lack of knowledge re this topic....I have a friend who has a Nikon d70 and has taken many RAW photos but has no software for those images!

Any chance that my canon software can help him out?

I don't think so.

All manufacturer's RAW formats are proprietary. If your buddy has a D70, the software that came with it should allow him to convert RAW files. If he bought it used or "as-is" with no software, check out a program called Rawshooter Essentials. It might still be available -- and it's free. I don't know whether the D70 is one of its supported cameras, but that info' is available in the product descriptions.
For a nominal fee, he could probably get the OEM software from Nikon, too.

If he wants a good image editor, I'll bet that Photoshop Elements 4 supports the D70 with its Camera Raw pluggin.
