I have reloaded Elements 3 on my new CPU but I notice one thing, well many things but one at a time. When I used to save a picture after editing it it would automatically add edit to the name. Now it is not doing that and I have to change the name of the picture during the save. Anyone now how to set it back up to automatically add the edit to the end of the name?

HELP

Ronnie

Been a while since I used Elements, but I had a dig around.

When saving a file for the first time using 'save as', it is presuming you are going to name the file with an alternative to the original.
Subsequently, when this file is then opened and saved again, it will automatically add 'edit' to the file name, as long as 'Save in Version set with original' is checked.

In the 'Save as' dialog, make sure that 'Save in Version Set with Original' is checked.
This will then add 'Edited' to the file name and subsequent files (same file) saved this way will have Edited-1, Edited-2, Edited-3 etc.

EDIT : Actually Ronnie, I am trying this with Elements 4.
Perhaps the method is different for version 3 ?

Can someone else pop in who use Elements 3 please ?

You could perhaps trash the preferences (reset).
Go to : C:\Documents and Settings[YOUR NAME]Application DataAdobePhotoshop Elements3.0Editor and delete the file called 'Photoshop Elements 3.0 Prefs.psp'

When you restart Elements, it will rebuild this file as if you hadn't made any changes to any settings.

If that doesn't work, then I suggest you re-install Elements 3 and try to set it again from the beginning.

*When I say [YOUR NAME}, that is whatever username you input when installing the operating system for your account.
