Hi,
Just bough a Sonyh DCR-HC96 with Picture Package 1.5. Tried reading a tape to PC using the Firewire connection. Everything seems to work by selecting Programs\Picture Package\Handycam Tool\Video Capturing Tool except that it stops every 10 minutes and says it ran out of time. Two choices: Continue or Cancel.

Anyone experience this problem? Would like to transfer a tape to a file that is over an hour long without having to press the continue button every ten minutes.

Help appreciated.

I bought a Sony Handycam today and have the same problem with Picture Package.

I can't find any way of changing this ridiculous setting. When you go to the Capture Settings the only setting you can actually change is where the movie files are saved WOW!

To make things even more annoying, when finished, it's even split up my tape recording into those daft 10 minute chunks so I've now got to join these clips back together with another (better) piece of software.

The idiot at Sony that commissioned this heap of junk needs shooting.

if you want to stop it from stopping every ten mins follow this and it will sort it

first go to run in the start menu

go to RUN

type REGEDIT

openHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

open SOFTWARE

open SONY CORPORATION

open VIDEO CAPTURING TOOL

open 1.0

on the right hand side double click on CaptureLimit USBStr

change to this 6acfc0 and click ok

you can now go for a lot longer please enjoy

what ever you do DON'T touch anything else

Tried this (angelus_100uk) advice. Didn't work. Same problem..saves after 10 minutes and splits my 1hr 2 minute video into 7 pieces. Just want to hit capture once and walk away for an hour.

Any suggestions?

My mistake. Had to change the DVAVI setting. Put in the same numbers and it seemed to work.

The new problem is that on every miniDV I try to capture to the computer stops at 19minutes now. Stops recording and message is " blank area of tape reached"

Problem is tape independent and I am 0 for 2 on different transfers.

Please help.

DCR-HC42E and PP 1.5. Only my problem comes with the video capture tool not finding the camera. Its plugged in and its there alright but in true sony fasion I cant manually find it or troubleshoot the problem because the only setting is the destination folder.

Any ideas?
