Aside from the basic books by Scott Kelby, what is a good read for someone who has a graphics background and is proficient at Elements but is just now upgrading to Photoshop CS? Or is the Kelby book all I'll need? Thanks!

Not knowing which of the Kelby books you consider "basic", I found his book the photoshop book for digital photographers to be helpful. Mine is a 1st edition 2003 so there must be newer ones by now. The numerous online tutorials/tips I have found here on the forum have probably provided me with similar, if not greater knowledge.

Thanks much, Steve. That is the book that I will be using. I'm sure it will plenty for me for now!

I shop for PS books by visiting the local Barnes&Noble bookstore. They have a fairly good representation of titles and authors. Trying to figure out whether a certain book really delivers what you are looking for by reading online reviews is an uncertain proposition. Nothing beats holding the book in your hands and looking it over!

dont bother with books, go to 2d section/photoshop of pixel2life.com and follow the tutorials there, they are far more practical and creative
