id go for more ram (memory) than that

xp and photo editing software is ram hungry, especialy if your images are off a high resolution cam.

my home system as 1 gig of ram (memory)and pretty fast processor, but because i edit large panoramic files there is noticable lag while processing shots

Thanks alot Gary...yes, ram will solve the problem for sure but cant afford it after a new camera. I tried Adobe Lightroom last night and I am very pleased with it and also tried Photoline32 and was also pleased I guess until I can get more ram these programs will do and actually they do a helluva job...so far...I like to work in layers is why I asked the question and thanks so much for the help
The Z710 is a 7.1mp cam fyi

no probs mate.

layers.........ahhh super ram eaters in my case

my panoramics are 8mp images..........4 togehter at 320 dpi which can lead to a 240 meg image file in photoshop......becasue there are 4 layers each with equivalants size of 4x8mp. it drops ofcourse when layers are merged, and saved resulting image is only 50 megs but i have seen images that adobe tells me are in excess of 500megs while editing !!!, i work big fro qualit

hope u enjor ur lappy and software and above all photography !!!
