Default Methodology for Tracking Images, Anyone Have a Good One?

Does any have, or have they seen, good advice on how to manage and archive images? I have thousands of images I've taken over the years and use Photoshop 7.0 to edit them. What I'm really looking for is a methodology to keep track of all the following: originals, ones I've edited for print, ones I've edited for the web, and ones I've archived off to CD/DVD because I'm unlikely to want to edit/view/print them anytime soon.

I've just picked up Photoshop Album, it's tags and archive ability have promise but I'm wondering if anyone has a system/methodology they'd like to share?

Default IMatch

I've been using IMatch and I'm pretty happy with it. Photoshop Album went on my "wish I hadn't bought that" stack. That stack is getting too high. You can download a 30-day copy of IMatch for evaluation.
