Default Constrained crop ratio

Does any program aside from Photoshop have a constrained crop feature? That is to drag a crop area that maintains a set aspect ratio? I haven't been able to bring myself to spring for the cost of a full version of Photoshop yet. and have been using paintshop pro.

Padeye

Microsoft Picture It! $4.99 @ costco ($24.99 - $20 rebate)

You can both crop or size a picture by dragging the corners and the aspect ratio stay the same (doing with the sides will not...). I use this for quick and dirty results when putting multiple pictures on 1 8x10 without border!

Default Try Fotocrop

Steve,

Try Fotocrop available from http://www.pixilver.com/fotocrop.html
It's a PSP 'plugin type' action to crop in PSP. Good luck...Harvey:P

Fotocrop did the trick. Very nice little utility.

Actually after a little experimenting I found Fotocrop to be unusable. It's painfully slow if the image is large. I found it much easier to just watch the status line for the drag box which shows absolute pixels, size of the crop box and ratio of the crop box and free hand my crops that way. Maintain the ratio at 0.8 or 1.25 depending on portrait or landscape and you'll get an 8x10 ratio.

For Fotocrop you need top have an image open in Paintshop. From fotocrop there is a get image button I thikn that pulls in the image. When you crop and save it creates a new image in Paintshop in paintshop format.

Photoshop Elements 2 (about $40 after rebates) has most of the features of its big brother, including constrained cropping. I use it to make 4 X 6's or even 13 X 19's and it works great.

Take a look at Photo-Brush http://www.mediachance.com/pbrush/index.html
At $38 it's a nice program and is available as a trial version.

They also have some very handy free utilities for Digital Image processing.
