After an interminable and incomprehensible delay Corel finally releases PhotoImpact X3. Ulead, the maker of PhotoImpact was purchased by Corel early in 2007. Corel now has a stable of editing products including Paint Shop Pro, PhotoImpact, and their own Corel Painter.

I made this post because I would appreciate it if some of you long time photo editing users would download the demo and take a look at the new PhotoImpact.

It can be downloaded here: http://www.download.com/Ulead-PhotoI...html?tag=lst-1

or here: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli.../1192639399021

In particular I would like you to compare it to the other midrange editing software such as PhotoShop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, Serif PhotoPlus X2 or others. I've used PhotoImpact for about 6 years but am considering a change. You could help me tremendously by reviewing how it stacks up against the competitors.

Thanks for your time

I've been using Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 for a few weeks now and I highly recommend it. Considering the price I paid ($49.99CDN at FutureShop), it's amazing how functional, full-featured and easy to use PSP X2 is. I haven't used PhotoShop so I can't make a direct comparison, but the huge price difference isn't reflected in it's comparitive capabilities vs. PSP AFAIK.

I've also used GIMPShop but found it cumbersome and unstable, although itdoes work wellonce you get the hang of it. It's an open-source alternative to PS and can be downloaded at :
