Default PS8 plugins

Software newbie question.
How do you install a Photoshop Elements Plugin (Bokeh-1.0.3)?
In which directory? Thanks.

Ordo, I'm not 100% sure about this but I would try: C/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 8.0/Plugins/Filters.

I once downloaded Smart Curves this way...

Thanks, I just tried it but the Bokeh filter doesn't appear in the Filter list. I found this page:

http://akvis.com/en/photoshop-tips/install-plugins.php

Which basically says the same.
I reiinitiated, resinstalled, etc. and nothing happens. The subdirectory Alien Skin is there with the Bokeh filter, but it just doesn't appear in PS8. I will insist.

You should have a folder C:\Plugins If you install to this folder, PS should find in when you start it. If that doesn't work, try the preferences menu in PS. Look for a category 'additional plugin locations' or something to that effect, and add the folder.

besides putting the plugin in the folder, you may actually have to find it and put in in the list of actions, or add it to the list within photoshop. i forget exactly how though as i am not on my computer with ps on it at the moment.

Many thanks for the help. Now i guess it's a trouble with the Allien Skin Bokeh plug in because i've just downloaded a trial of Neat Image (noise reduction) and the auto plug in install worked flawesly. Hmm...

Just checked the link to instructions, and they are pretty comprehensive.
Next question - is this a straight plugin (.8bf type file) or an action (.atn) ?
Actions go into a different place. Should be a subfolder in PS called Presets, and another subfolder for Photoshop actions.

this is what i was referring to, if its an action it goes in a different folder, and then you actually have to choose it within the program to be put on the list as well.

I don't know what is it. I thought a Plug-in was just a Plug-in and even a Demo should work flawlessly. Here's the page:
