Default Convert MOV to AVI - download????

Hello all,

I apologize up front if this is a duplicate posting.

I would like to do a slideshow with video footage from my Canon G11 and T1i however my Windows Movie Maker won't import the videos which are listed as MOV extensions.....quicktime.

I know there's conversion sites/downloads available. My question is which sites are good and which ones aren't. I don't want to download something which is going to corrupt my hard drive.

Thank you in advance.

Me again....I managed to figure it out so if anyone is having issues here's what I did....

I have a G11 and Canon T1i/500D which formats video in MOV. However, I have a Windows Vista System which runs Windows Movie Maker when I try to put together a slide show of photos and video. The video in MOV format isn't recognized by WMM but rather Quicktime.

So I clicked on the Video I wanted (review and name them before you do this to prevent wasting time uploading the wrong video).

Then, without opening it, I clicked on 'properties' which opened another dialogue box.

I then clicked on the "change" button near the top and selected, from Quicktime, Windows Movie Maker then I clicked on Apply....which switched ALL The video's over.

Then I dragged over the video I wanted to the already opened WMM window and bob's your uncle. It's all good to go.

At the end, I went back and clicked on properties again and then switched it back to QT without a problem.

To answer your question about safe download sites: MajorGeeks. com is one that I have used and trust. They test the s/w for viruses and malware before they list it on the site. Haven't had a problem. There is quite a lot of video conversion s/w available.
