Default Irfanview/Auto Adjust Colors

I use Irfanview to post process my images, and sometimes I use the the 'Auto Adjust Colors'' function of Irfanview and sometimes it does a better job than I do at making my images look good, and I'd like to know what settings Auto Adjust Colors used so I can learn from them, but there doesn't seem to be any way to find those settings... does anyone know how I can access those settings?

To be able to see what changes were made, you can use the histogram (shift+H) before and after you make the adjustment. By looking at the different channels, you should be able to determine what the auto adjust did. I don't know just how it works, but it seems to increase the contrast and saturation in most cases.

I do OK correcting images that have been a bit over exposed, but when I have underexposed images I can't seem to hit upon the correct combination of brightness and contrast to get it corrected, and Auto Adjust Colors feature in Irfanview seems to do a real nice job brightening up those images, and I'm wondering what settings it's using to do that.

Thanks for your response, and I'll keep fiddling with it and see if I can't hit the proper combination.
