Elements 8 came with some useful software. Digital Photo Profesional, specially, is an efective RAW converter with lots of tools.

I moved from Corel to PSE V2. Upgraded to V4, V7 and now on V8.
Quit frankly, PSE has done everything I have asked of it, plus much more it is capable of I am sure. I tried the full blown PS cs2 I think, and found it more difficult to use, plus most of it's features seemed more geared to pro's and automation, things like that. (that was between V4 and V7 of PSE). Went back to PSE and love it.
I find of there is something I need to do, and don't know how, google is your friend.
Plus you can get started rather cheaply if you buy a non-registered, back one version off eBay. usually around $30ish
