Default Help fix my dogs green eyes realistically

Below is a pic of my dog. He's pretty old and has cataracts. I want to fix his eyes for a photo so they look natural. Ive tried painting them black and a few things but everything looks awfully un-natural ( or "shopped" as my brother says).
Anyone advise how i can fix his poor eyes in a realistic way? I have photoshop elements 9.

Thanks!

Here's a try - I used Photoshop Elements2 and used the Elliptical Marquee tool to make a circle round the green part of an eye.

Next I used the Remove Color tool to remove the green color. And lastly I adjusted the result to make it darker but with a bit more contrast.

Then I did the same with the other eye.

Yes, I see what you mean. Here's another go. This time I also increased the brightness of the eyes' highlights.

I've been dealing with this for four years, myself. Good job, Herb.
