Default Help with PS job

Here is what I need to do for a customer, I have the photos done One is of the horses head the other is of a buckle the horse won. He wants a picture of the Buckle imposed on to the portrait of the head up in the corner. I have a program that will merge these photos no problem. My question is, I want to have just the buckle with no background to it so I end up with just a pic of the oval buckle. I am not very well educated in PS but am learning I have Elements 2.0 and PS 6.0 Thanks for any help>

Use the extract tool (I think it's available in both copies you have). Either that or use the magnetic lasso to outline the buckle and put it on it's own layer. Then drag that layer onto the picture of the horse head and use the opacity slide to achieve the blend you like.

Place the buckle on its own layer, then delete the background layer, then save image

You need to have the background set to transparent...you should see gray/white squares if you have that set...I think it's in your preferences. You probably have to go through the procedure again once you set the background to transparent. You might have to save it as PSD file...not sure on that though.

Copy the background layer
Select the new layer
Turn off the original background layer
Make eliptical selection around the buckle
Inverse the selection
Press the delete key...

Is that the horse's natural color eye? It looks strange.

As you'll find out (or already have), there are many, many ways to achieve the same results with Photoshop. I'm constantly learning new methods to do things. We have some very good Photoshop users here.
