Default Video choice of streaming DVD and Blurays to TV

Streaming movies to my TV through my home network is my priority so far and I saw ByteCopy recommended to be the best solution. Therefore I installed a free trial on my Win 8. MKV is my choice of file container because I can add multiple audio and subtitle tracks as well as chapter markers. I use it to back up my DVD's and Blurays to my network storage so I can later stream it to my TV.
