Default PHOTOSHOP 6 - RANKING ORDER OF IMAGES IN FILE BROWER

Can you please help me to order the position of each of my photographs appears in the index. The file browser shows the image number, which one can obviously change but there is also a facility to "Rank" . The "rank" can presumably be used to enter a character against each image so that it appears in the index amongst similarly "ranked" images. I am sure that the solution is probably very simple but my question is - How is the ranking invoked?

Thanks.

Hi Paul

I'm dying to tell you that this is a dumb question. Unfortunately I've been meaning to ask what the purpose of ranking is in the first place, but never got around to it..,.

So you're one up on me.
