I have four choices in my price range.

1. Paint Shop Pro 8

2. Paint Shop Power Suite

3. Photo Impact Pro 8.5

4. Photoshop Elements 2.0

Which editor is the better of the four. It doesnt matter how difficult any of them are I just want to purchase the best one. The main things I am looking for is layering and special effects. I already have Infranview,ACDSee,PhotoExplosion,PhotoSuite,Photoe lf,Rahman Imager and Qimage. And I know just about everyone here praises Photoshop Elements but I am never going to pay $600.00 for Photoshop CS or any other editor for that matter. So I am not looking for a starter program to better prepare me for my future purchase. I want this to be my last purchase. For awile anyway.

Comon guys. Surely someone has a little info to share on one or more of these editing softwares. I have a lot of pictures I would like to fix and give an extreme makeover but I want to get the right software to do it with. Dont like to waste money. Any info, any at all, on these programs will be very helpful.

thanks in advance

I would say photoshop CS! If you know where to look, you can d/l it free in the internet.... I dontmean you should do piracy... but it's one option if you dont have the money for it ....

THEFT is never the solution!

Photoshop Elements 2.0 is a great program that will allow you to do many photographic solutions and would have my recommendation. I used to use Paintshop 7.0 but never took the time to learn it (this was before I got into digital photo adjustments). I have heard good things about PS8. I can't say anything about the others.

Dont forget Serif Photoplus 8 from
http://www.serif.com/photoplus/photoplus8/index.asp
a much under-rated program

You can download a free copy of Photoplus 5.5 (legally!) from
http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/index.asp

Thanks a million Brian. I went to serifs website and reviewed Photoplus 8 and I am now enjoying it on my computer. I went and bought it this afternoon. Everything I need is on this program except the star filter that comes with Photoimpact 8. Do you know where I can find that filter to plug into Photoplus? I bought a 55mm star filter for my camera and it doesnt work right. So I would like to have that filter to add effects to street lights and whatnot.

Thanks again.
