Here's a site that has a free program that does a good job of converting to B&W easily and quickly.

Default B&W Conversion in ps7

Hello,

I have been very happy with the action set from Fred Miranda , which is at www.fredmiranda.com . It is not free, but quite reasonable.

In addition to switching to greyscale there are several other filters available which give plenty more options.

There's VERY good article at Cliffshdade: http://www.cliffshade.com/dpfwiw/b&w.htm .

My personal choice is a) for fast check - working with luminance channel in Lab; b) channel mixer as most flexible tool.
