Default Photoshop LE 5.0

I bought the Canon Film Scanner, FS4000US. LE 5.0 came with it. I'm just trying to do something which I'm having a difficult time finding the answer.
I just want to be able to remove unwanted background in a picture. Is there a simple way to do this?
Thanks,

I remember vaguely Photoshop LE bundled with my scanner or printer , but did not keep it on the PC.
But the principle to “remove the background” is selecting the areas to be deleted, for this, you have several tools:
- magic wand : based in color , will select the area with the same (or close) color, repeat this with the “addition” option on ( cumulative)
- sometimes, the magic wand isn’t the best tool ( wanted and unwanted areas have to close color) , use “lasso” ( ie hand drawn to include the areas)
The border tends to be jagged , smooth it with “eraser” tool, or ”finger” tool .

Hope that helps
