about my problem with my pc not detecting usb connection with the camera...

I solved it and feel very stupid, but thought to myself maybe some other people with similar problem did the mistake I did so I will share.

I have dcr hc32e digital camera that comes with a stand. The usb cable is connected to this stand.

My pc didn't detect the usb cable because i didn't switch the on/off button on the stand.

Simple as that. You can laugh now.

I was very happy that I could record to vcd now, but you were all right. USB connection sucks, I'm going shopping today -for firewire cable, I called my pc producer who told me that my pc shouldn't have firewire in, so I should buy PCI too. The cards I see on the net -sites of available shops in my area, seem to have low speed... Any advice here?

thanks

oosh

I got picture package 1.5 with my dcr hc, but it's not installing. I saw some other people are posting about the same problem, but no reply from anyone. When I click on "install" nothing happens (just like the others described), no message, no error, nothing.

In another forum I found only one reply -a girl solvedthis problem by uninstalling McAfee -but I don't have it or any similar program....

Please help me...

I also need an alternative way to do the job, especially after hearing all the complaining about what hapens even AFTER I manage to install...

I guess that would be firewire and two programs -one to upload the feed, and another one to record it on cd. What programs should you recomend? (free of course -I spent too much money already on the camera and the extras, to pay more for something I was supposed to get from the producer -I don't even want to say the name -let them be cursed for putting us all through so many problems)

I'll appreciate your help please please please

Make sure all antivirus programs are temporarily off, including pc versions like kapersky. Mke sure you plug in the recording device AFTER the drivers are installed, pluging them in before (against diretions) can screw things up, but it's fixable by doing a one day restore, or manually uninstalling drivers & reinstalling them before connecting camera.

:?:shock:Had huge issues to connecting via USB. Today I bought a 1394 firewire cable. Worked first time. Using Windows movie maker to capture the video and Ulead. Means I can throw Picture package in the bin. Yippee. What a load of rubbish that program is.

Motto is

Rush out and buy the firewire cable.:|:-):-):blah:
