One thing I forgot to mention re Unsharp Mask - un-ticking and re-ticking the 'Preview' box will show you before and after effects, very useful. Works well for other adjustments as well.

BrianP, I ordered Noise Ninja and Photokit Sharpener today. Being stubborn, I also did an exhaustive search for filter plugins. Now I know why you are skeptical of them. They must be targeted at graphic artists.

There seems to be a few millions filter plugins for sale, and they are mostly pretty hoky (for amateur photography anyway) as well as pretty expensive. Most of what I found is not what I was looking for.All I wanted was to brighten up a dull day, simulate a graduated neutral density filter, and pick up boring skies. It seems impossible to get these without spending a lot of money for a huge collection, most of which would never be used by someone like me.

I'll keep watching. Meanwhile, I guess I'll have to learn more about PS CS, damn it.

Regards,

Bob
