It looks like MS is getting camera makers (some of them, at least) to help it add raw support in the next version of windows. Could be a nice basic tool for people, though it's certainly not going tosupplant the more advanced conversion utils such as photoshop. Regardless, it will be at least a year before the next windows comes to market anyway...so, who knows what the final form will take.

One thing I do know about it is that the thumbnailing feature of windows will now actually show images for RAWs...which in itself is wonderful in my opinion.

Perhaps this will even push camera makers to at least partially standardize their raw formats.

I read that it will allow viewing and printing of raw images.

And will be ready for download in a few weeks.

Right, there is a stand-alone version of it that will be released this summer, but the version that actually allows you to edit them (in addition to view or print)will be in the next version of Windows.
