Shot some pics and saved them in PSD format. Now I want to convert a pic to jpg. Any decent software to do this? Photoshop wont let me save it as a jpg file.

I am not a Photoshop user, but have heard other people with the same problem have found they need to flatten all layers first, and make sure it is converted to 8-bit color.

Irfanview (free) will read PSD files if you down load the plugins too (over 40 different file types). After loading, simply save the file as a JPeg.

I was always under the impression that you had to actually flatten all layers yourself prior to saving as a jpeg, as Brian said.

But I have just opened a psd, added a couple of adjustment layers etc, and 'saved as' a jpeg. It then went on to automatically flatten the layers itself. Nice of it. So that's not the problem.

I think your problem may be as Brian said. You will not have the option to convert to jpeg if your file is in 16 bit.

Go to Image/Mode and click on 8 Bits/Channel. Now you should see more options when saving as, including jpeg.

Stevekin.

Steve/Brian-Thanks for the advice. Changing to 8 bit
did the trick.
