Upgraded from CS to CS2, new actions are extremely slow, Smart Sharpen is so slow it is not usable.

Computer Information:

Dell Inspron 8600, 80GB Hard Drive 7200 rpm,1.6M processor, 2GB RAM, external 100GB Hard Drive used for scratch.

I have taken the following steps to improve speed to no avail: updated video driver and BIOS, defragmented, activated Bigger Tiles, set 3GB switch in ini.

Even if I shut down all but vital applications Smart Sharpen is a five minute process on a 20MB TIFF, all other actions complete in seconds. Help

With the help of Adobe"Troubleshoot system errors CS2 XP" replacing a damaged Photoshop preference file in Application Data resolved the issue. Hope this helps anyone else having a similar problem.
