Default Help Picking Software

I just bought an Oly C 4000 Z and plan to do a lot of macro work with small fossils and minerals.My question is what afforable software is out there that I can use to change backgrounds or move objects from one background to another? Thank You !

I've had great luck with Photoshop Elements. It has a great variety of features and isn't expensive.

I love photoshop, but the cost and the learning curve are
substantial. If you can buy it as a student it is much cheaper.
