Hi everyone Im a newbie to this forum, but have been using Photoshop 7 for a couple years now. When I first started using it, it was on an older computer, there were no problems and I loved it. Recently I got a newer computer with more space and memory, installed the program and now there's a problem: Nearly every time I open a picture it opens scrambled in big squares... it actually kinda looks like the displace filter but with black, red, and white snowstorms between the squares. :?: I was told to hit Ctrl Alt Shift while opening photoshop to reset it... but that did nothing. The scrambling will go away if I pass another opened file over it... but will return immediately after using any tool. This makes editing any photos a long, tedius and frustrating process. Does ANYONE know what could be causing this and how to fix it? Id appreciate any suggestions.

Hi
This sounds like a corrupt preference file - you have to delete it, and Photoshop will re-biuld it next time it opens - for instructions see

The easiest way is to hold down Control + Shift + Alt just after opening PS - you only have a few milliseconds to do it - or search for the Prefs.psp file in Documents and Settings.

Could you possibly post a screen shot of what you are seeing when you start Photoshop?
