I have been racking my brain trying to recall how previously I have been able to replace the colour of an object such as a car in Photoshop CS2.

I think I used a lasso and layers. Once the colour was replaced it was relatively easy to try other colours on the same object. Try as I may I cannot get it right. Must be senility creeping on. Are there any CS2 brains out there that can help? Thanks

To easy you can do as you mentioned but open your photo go to Image/Adjustments/Replace Color use the eye dropper to select the colors you want to replace and move the slider to the desired color.

I'd duplicate the layer first so you can see changes.

Different photos will vary if you like post one that your interested in and I'm sure you'll get some replies
