Hi.

I've seen some black and white photos with only one or two areas that have color.

can anyone tell me how it's done and with which software?

I currently use PSP9, MS Digital Image Suite, BibbleLite. Bibble has a plug-in to add spot colors to a converted black and white photo. but, it adds too much sometimes and pulls the color throughout the photo.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

With PSP9 make a new layer. Desaturate the layer or use whatever command PSP uses to make it black and white. Use the eraser tool and erase the parts you want in color. The color from the layer below will show through. Flatten the image if you want to save it as a JPG, but I wouldn't overwrite the original.

There are ways to use masks or selections on the B&W layer and just delete the selected parts. But the eraser works fine if you choose the right sized brush.

Glad it worked out for you. If the areas you want in color are highly defined you can also use any selection tool and hit the Delete key.
