Several years ago when living in the French countryside near Paris, I kept all of my film archives in the barn next to the house. Unfortunately most of those archives were lost. Recently, I was pleased to find that someone on the Fashion Spot blog found the published series from one of my Advertorials for Chopard and posted them there. I was totally blown. I also realized that I didn't have Photoshop at the time ;-)

I am pleased to be able to share them with you. They are from around 1986-87.

  • Check out the opening credits of the old TV series...The Rockford Files..there are a number of still photographs of the star, James Garner at night...also some during the day. They are excellent and really evoke the mood and set atmoshere of this wonderful detective show.
  • Arthur Fellig A.K.A. Weegee...I may not have the spelling right of either his name or nick name. I beleive he took street pictures of people in New Yoork City...mainly in the '30;s to '50;s. He used a large Speed Graphic and flash. The pictures are extremely well illuminated...but it's more of the subject and how he seemed to capture the sense of NYC at that time.
Just two examples of great night time...'people' photography.

These folks where out in a very public street caring on as if no one existed ..
Here I am 3 feet away from them and they don't notice me making their picture



It was cool to see old school shoe shine work going on.


The reason the ''bootleg'' DVD'S are on a blanket is so that when the police come by to raid them,
they simply grab the blanket by the four corners and run into the subway.
I figured this out when I saw it with my own eyes.


I found this place very difficult to photograph because people did not trust me.
They looked at me as if I where a cop...Still, I feel like I caught some real emotion.


This was very much a scene of life here...


I can't resist umbrella shots.


The reality of all of Los Angeles...


Even me who Love street food, was not brave enough to buy something from these folks.....

I took a shot of these Cops making a turn, and they immediately pulled me over. Why? They didn't mind me taking pictures, they just wanted to know about the dog... :)



I never used ISO 3200 on the Sigma, since the day time shots that I tried were very grainy. But I decided to give it a shot at night, and it works pretty well. So I've gained an f stop... :)


Two people who Chato considers, "part of his flock," so he let them up the stoop, something he will never allow a stranger to do.




McSorley's Ale House has an ever changing crowd in front.

This was going on early in the morning of Veterans Day, November 11, 2009, in Times Square, New York around 7:30 am -- "Kisses For The Troops".

These two young ladies saw me with a camera, and immediately went into "pose mode." They got very upset that I didn't take a picture, because they saw no flash. I had to run after them to show them the image.

The mom handed her son the camera then ran around him while he chased her, him taking pictures of her both laughing and crying. They were running around all alone surrounded by Nature that I couldn’t resist taking a shot.

Eventually, they made their way to where I stood and while I had my face pressed to my camera’s viewfinder taking pictures of a tall maple tree above, I heard the woman cry out laughing, “Take a picture of the guy with the camera!”

When I looked down I saw the little boy beaming at me camera in his hands waiting for me to say something.

I said, “Aw, I should have posed.”

They then ran off again laughing and crying.
