The main advantage of this mount is that
it can power the camera from cigarette lighter socket.

I prepared special site presenting all the stuff.
Please click the link below to visit it:

http://logger100.republika.pl/index.html

Each picture has a number assigned.
If you have any questions please use these numbers while asking.

Pictures 1-10, 17-22 and 41-42 show all the set ready to use.
Pictures 11-16 show how power supply is organised.
Pictures 23-37 show some technical details of the mount.
Image 43 is a video showing how powering works.

The main intention for building this mount is to film
reckless roadhogs who are a big problem in my country.
After I started using the camera in my car I noticed
that it's good for making educational videos.
The mount is absolutely NOT intended for filming crazy driving
and for crazy driving just for filming. Finally, if there is
any kind of road incident the camera might provide irrefutable evidence.

To see videos filmed with this mount visit my Youtube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlGzdhrQ50k

And now more information about the mount.
Here is a list of parts I used to build it:

- HR Autocomfort Stabilo Mount 1 suction mount product site
- TomTom 5V/2A Cigarette Lighter Adaptor
- Sanyo HD1A cable adaptor
- switch removed from an old computer case (that one with Power/Reset/Turbo buttons); its a two-step swich: pressing it once closes the circuit, pressing again opens it (and so on)
- Cyanoacrylate glue, a screw and two nuts, some tiny cables, piece of aluminum sheet, tin
- flat screwdriver (for attaching the camera to the mount's board)
and Sanyo branded universal camera bag (for storing the TomTom adaptor and the screwdriver).
If you decided to build the same mount let me tell you
IMHO it will very hard even for experienced handyman
(I'm not the one but happily this mount works flawlessly
but I spent about two months for building it).

With a 32 GB SDHC card I can record about 8 hours of best quality (9Mbps) video.
All I have to remember is to push 'RECORD' button once an hour
(after 1 hour the video file grows to 4GB which is upper limit for
Fat32 file system - recording stops). Besides that, the camera
does not require any maintenance during the journey.

Imagine with this set you could e.g. film a trip from the east to the west coast
without worrying for the batteries (several of 32GB cards would be necessary).

Would you like to have such a mount for your camcorder?
This one works with HD1 and HD1A Xactis.

I count on feedback of yours because in my country Xacti
cameras are not very popular so there is no one I could discuss it with.
I am happy to answer any questions.

__________________________________________________ _______
Pictures 38-40 I took mainly for HD1/HD1A/HD2 owners.
Look what I always have in my soft case:
4 normal size SD cards (1 of them inside the camera)
2 batteries (1 of them inside the camera)
1 Sandisk Micromate SDDR-113 Reader (fits perfectly in that little pocket and causes
the spare battery, placed behind the divider, does not fall to the bottom of the case)

3 questions:

1) Can you replay 60 fps video on the camera one frame at a time? Meaning, is there a button (probably a "forward" button) that allows the video to advance one frame only... then release the button for the replay to stop... then press again to advance (or rewind) one frame?

2) If so, when one presses and holds this forward button, will the video continuously advance one frame at a time? Not jump ahead multiple frames, but continously advance (or rewind) at a rate of, say, no more than two frames per second?

3) Is the remote easy and responsive to use, and will it work from 30' away?

Thank you.

I bought and used an el cheapo SD Card (which claims life time warranty) to took pictures and recorded videos. However when I tried to transfer the file it became corrupt and my PC ask if I wanted to format the SD Card.

I browsed and found PC Inspector File Recovery to recover the pictures and videos.

I managed to save pictures perfectly but when I restore video there is no sound at all. Video quality is not affected and I think file size is still the same so I assume sound information is still there but for some reason it cannot be extracted.

Any ideas how to restore the sound?

Thanks!

For many of us the lack of a view finder on the Sanyo is a real pain, obviously the form factor design etc. doesnt really allow it but I saw recently that many people have been designing hoods with optics for a simulated view finder acorss the lcd.

The benefits can be huger, bringing the lcd upto eye-level and having it shaded can help enormously both with stability and accurracy of focusing.

Here is a diy job, someone posted which I may have a go at, alternatively if anybody has got any other ideas would be great for you to post. The most expensive solution is the zacuto z-finder for the Canon 5dmk2, but as you can see the idea to use the lcd as the viewfinder is not as stupid as it sounds.

HD2000 Questions

Hi All

Newbie here, I have done a search but not exactly found the answers I have been looking for. Sorry if this bothers anyone that I am...

Hi All

Newbie here, I have done a search but not exactly found the answers I have been looking for. Sorry if this bothers anyone that I am posting this but it will help me alot and no doubt save me some money!

I bought the Sanyo HD2000 off eBay today, brand new for £297. I wanted a video camera that can shoot HD and take decent still photos to take with me to Las Vegas. (I have a Canon 350D but don't want to take this with me to Vegas).

After doing a lot of reading & research I finally came to the decision that for my money, the HD2000 is good bang for buck.

So my questions to all you Sanyo HD2000 owners are:

1. I want to shoot my trip in HD, I own a 2 year old Apple MacBook Pro (2.2Ghz, 2Gb Ram, 160GB HD) and want to know what HD Resolution/Mode to shoot in. I want to be able to edit and view it on my laptop so the top end HD mode may not be the one I want to use!

2. How much memory (SDHC Cards) am I going to need?! I've looked around and can find a 16GB Kingston Class 4 SDHC card for £20.95 inc P&P. The 32GB equivalent is £66 so can get 3 x 16Gb for the price of 32GB. So I am not sure if 16Gb, 32GB or 48Gb will be the best option?!

3. If I do get a 16GB card, I know the format the cards use limit it to 4GB of video before it stops and you have to start again. So how much video time will I get on a 16GB card from a decent/editable HD Video Mode?!

4. Am I going to need to buy an SDHC Card Reader to plug into my MacBook Pro to transfer the videos/photos from my HD2000 or can I stick the HD2000 in the dock and connect the dock via USB to transfer the videos/photos?!

5. Battery life?! What do you as a consumer get out of a full charge from your HD2000?! Is it wise to buy a second battery?!

God I hate sounding like a newbie, I'm very good and full of knowledge when it comes to technology but Video Camera's isnt an area I am familiar with.

So thank you in advance to anyone that responds to the questions!
