I just happened to look at QVC and the "TSV" for Nov. 20 is an Olympus SLR. It's labeled an E600, 12.2mp with the 2 kit lenses, they're offering the kit for 699.95.
Has anyone heard of this model--is it one made just for QVC? It does have pop art filters and a swivel LCD screen, dust reduction and in camera image stabilization. I didn't have time to compare the focus system to other on market models, but if anyone checks it out, what are the opinions as compared to the 520 or 620??
It certainly is interesting!!

Hi Guys

As I've been playing around with LR3 Beta recently I started to look through all of my old pics (haven;t taken any new ones for a while so their all old!) and came across a few E1 pics that I had missed completely. I only ever shot RAW with my E1 (my E3 - its RAW+Jpeg) - all PP within LR3 Beta:

1. Rivets: - A peterbuilt truck that i spotted in the West End of London.

2. The London Eye - a different viewpoint. Taken from roof on the old "Joost" UK headquarters using the OM 135 F3.5.

3. Covent Garden - Watching the street entertainers.

4. "Size" - this one I had PP before using LR1 just after it was taken but I decided to put it through Lr3beta.

5. Sunset over Canary Wharf

6. Scaffolding - Again from the old Joost roof top.

7. The last one... "Flowers" - A Morris Minor car that had flowers all around the front and rear bumpers. Sheperds Bush, London:

Hi Guys
Just a note to those who have the ex-25

Im wondering to purchase this for some macro photography. Now the big question is I have the 12-60mm swd and the 50-200mm swd, now would I be better to buy the 50mm f2 as well to get the full potential or are my lenses good enough with the extension tube added. I also like the 50mm idea as a potrait lense but how much better would it be than my current lenses.

if you have these two lenses and have and the 50mm do you still use the 50mm or does the other lenses jump to your hand 1st.

p.s. Some day I will own the 35-100mm would this then replace the 50mm for portrait? so would I best put the money aside and wait till I have the funds for the 35-100mm

Thankd Brian

I have a E520 and I started to use it now to shot product image. I have noticed a white spot in the middle which turns out to be a scratch on the front of the lens. (I think because of aperture it shows up, otherwise my other photos look fine.) I called a local camera store which tells me there is no way to repair a scratch and I'm probably better off getting a new lens as anything they attempt to do will cost the same. Should I get the same lens (14-42mm ED) which I see on ebay sometimes for a little over $100 new or something else? I can probably still use the scratched lens for everyday use to take photos of my family. I just need to have one that I can use to shoot product photos. Also, should I use a UV filter to protect the lens from now on? I have one that came with the package that is a digital concept filter 58mm (sakar warranty). Is that good enough?

After taking a look at the bird photos taken by Greg (of the North), It prompted me to see what I could get out of the 50-200mm Ed when fully extended and with using the EC-14 teleconverter. What follows are two images that are not cropped but reduced somewhat for web posting:

As you can see depth of field is a problem for me as my lenns is just too close to the subject to allow for any DOF.

Anyways, while not anywhere near what the 300mm f2.8 can deliver, this will have to do for now.

I recently upgraded my trusty e500 to the new e620 body. I have been, by and large, delighted with the new camera, but am having trouble with one feature.

I am having a problem with the metering of the Live View preview when enlarging the display.

I am trying to take photos of the moon with my 150mm lens. The moon appears as a very small, bright circle on a black background. To get a clear focus, I am trying to use the live view enlarged display option. The image appears normal when in standard view, but washes out as though overexposed when I enlarge the display--glowing brightly and showing no detail that I could focus on. When I shoot the picture, the metering is agian normal. I am generally shooting 200 ISO, Shutter speed 1/160, f 8. Stopping down the lens, reducing the ISO, or decreasing the shutter speed seem to have no effect on this washing--which again, only happens when I enlarge the live view display.

I have turned the live view boost off, so I know that isn't the problem. Any ideas? It's quite frustrating. I am working around this by taking dozens of shots incremental focus steps and deleting the ones that are out of focus--hardly a preferred solution. I welcome any input.

I'm not one for buying books on photography as there's always some really fantastic sites such as Steve's forums, strobist.com and luminous landscapes to name just a few. One book I would like to recommend as it just about covers everything and in such a nice and concise way is ...

Digital Photography Master Class by Tom Ang.
http://www.dorlingkindersley-uk.co.u...315562,00.html

I was a bit biased when I purchased the book as I used to work at Dorling Kindersley many years ago but this is really one of those must have books - theres some really wonderful photography in the book, good tutorials, etc... don;t take my word for it read some of the reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photog...7622140&sr=8-1

http://photofocus.com/2009/08/09/dig...-ang-dk-books/

Cheers

Hey everyone!

First off, sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, please feel free to move it and scold me haha :p

I'm looking for a good solid macro lens for my Olympus e-450. I'm sort of torn between the Zuiko ED 50mm: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...p?product=1327

or

The Sigma 105mm:
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/len...53&navigator=5

If anyone has any advice or thoughts or experience with either or both, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
James
