Hi, you good Panny-people :wave1: (I'm one myself, but only a FZ-28-one...)

I have kept a good eye on the developments of certain threads here (needed adapter for the Pana-G1 - very interesting reading!) lately and I am getting more and more couriouse about the G1.

Having had my FZ-28 for almost exactly 1 year (28th of November) and beeing extremely satisfied with its output, I am now (without telling anybody yet - so shhhush!) in the process of looking at a number of dSLR-reviews to find out which direction I want to go, if I should be so lucky and get together enough $ (well NOK in my case) to go out and by!

Now, the GH1 is clearly out of my league (financially) so I have been looking at the G1 for now (amongst all types of Canons and Nikons :o)

Is the GH1 just a G1 with video-capability or is there more to it? It seems the price-difference her in Norway looks that way. Approxim. 2.142,-$ for the GH1 against 1.007,-$ for the G1.

Has the kit-lens (14to42mm) that comes with the G1 been replaced by a newer and better (hence more expensive) lens, or is it still the same construction?

Has anybody found out if the G1 can be powered by non-original batteries (since 1 spare battery Panasonic BLB13 cost more than 142,-$ here) or does the camera not accept others?

Much obliged if anyone could help me with these fundamental questions.

:sport-smiley-018:

Due to the rapidly growing acceptance (and consequently, popularity) of the micro 4/3 system, most forum sites have already dedicated a forum to it. So, my question is, is it time for us to have a dedicated m4/3 forum here at Steve's? Maybe the existing traffic to this forum is not high enough to justify the split but perhaps it would put a different spin to it and generate more activity. Your thoughts?
