Thought I'd pop in and say hi as I just signed up to the forums, although I've been visiting Steves-Digicams for many years.

I consider myself a professional photographer as I've done a couple of weddings, many portraits, and sold some prints, but I mostly do it for fun as a hobby. I generally shoot with my Olympus E-3, although I still have my E-500, and also shoot with my Casio EX-F1 (but mostly video with that). In addition I have some studio gear (strobes, large backdrops, etc). Feel free to visit my Flickr page to view some of my shots.

And I recently started a photography series on YouTube to help newbies out, although in future episodes I will also discuss more advanced topics too (I'll probably start getting requests which I'll likely entertain). Please do feel free to check that out on my channel.

I'm new to the forum and have recently renewed my interest in photography thanks in part to my 2.5 year old daughter. So, forgive me if I ask questions that you think are slightly off as I'm still learning.

I recently purchased a Canon G11 and should have it by weeks end or the beginning of next week the latest. I am really looking forward to it and in getting back to learning the manual controls.

I've already seen many posts on this site and I think it's wonderful to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge accumulated here by all levels of expertise.

My names Joe and I am new to this whole DSLR scene. Had a Kodak Easy Share camera before and realized with how many pictures I take, and how much I like taking pictures I wanted to get more into it. Breaking my screen on my camera, and using my buddy's D40 didn't help either.

Just got my camera monday, ordered it from CameraKings.com. After hearing alot of bad things after I ordered from them, I got the camera as described. Got a Canon XSI with 18-55mm lens because I hear lots of good things, and wanted something with Liveview and that was a good entry level DSLR, Case, Extra Quick charger and 4 hour battery, 2 gig SD Card, UV Filter, and all for only $620.

About me. 22 years old. Work at StylinTrucks.com. Have a girlfriend of almost 5 years. Really involved in the custom truck/car scene (Where I take most of my pictures).I have a fully custom 2000 Dodge Dakota, and 2003 Dodge Ram. On plenty of forums, including my own, (Ohiofullsize.com). Got a 2 year certificate for graphic design/interactive multimedia in high school back in 05, and have been going to school for business currently in college.

Really hope to learn alot about my camera, learn to take killer shots, and share them with you all! I feel I have an eye for photography, and want to make something in it. Hope to get idea's from you all as well. Hoping to find some other guys interested in Auto photography as well.

This is my first post. I take a lot of pictures and videos with my Canon Powershot A540. However, I'm not very good with computers. A few months ago, my computer crashed. The repairman was able to recover a fair amount of my files. Most of the pictures and some of the videos came back fine, but I would get a message saying that the player would be unable to play other videos when I clicked on them. I tried playing them in Quicktime, avi, and Realplayer, but none of the worked. Other videos just show up as THM files, which I know I can't play. Does anybody know what happened to the original videos? How come I only get the THM's and not the video itself? What happened here?!!! I was looking at the Samsung HZ25W, but am told mega zooms don't work well. Any suggestions?

Second problem. I have an old Fuji 3 mp, using smart media. When I try to transfer pics to the computer, it tells me I need to format the card. I have pics of my grand daughters from years ago, and do not wish to lose them. Any hints on what I could do?

I didn't sell as many cameras as the manager would probably have liked, but I always felt that my customers were armed with the best information they could get because I would take them to a computer and open up Steve's website to show them what was being said about the camera they were looking for. Sometimes they went home without a camera, but at least armed with more data so they could make a better decision.
