Default Weird problem with Sunpak 383 connected to FZ10

Okay, here's the deal. I have an FZ10 with a Sunpak 383 connected to it, running off a DPS-9000 external battery.

The external flash won't fire when I take pictures. It will fire when I use the test button on the back of the flash.

The only thing I can think of is that I took a shot with the flash on of a mirror. Could that have "blinded" some part of the flash?

I tried it with the Panasonic brand battery that came with the camera and it worked.

I'm using rechargable AAs in the flash, but I have no reason to think they're the problem, because they were working fine until that one shot inside.

I used the DPS9000 with the Quantaray Version of ther 383 sunpack today and didn't encounter any problems, the flash fired every shot. Which connector are you using with the FZ10, it should be the DP-1U...

I assume you've set the menu for external flash to preset or manual?

I'm using rechargeable metal hydride AA's they work well, I've also tried Nickel cadmium, and alkaline and had no problems..

It's working now. The external flash options are probably what I need to focus on in future. Yes, I'm using the IU cable to connect DPS and FZ10
