Default Metz 50 loud pop

Hey guys,

I just bought a Metz 50 AF-1 to use with my canon 500D, and after firing 3 shots, there was a very loud POP, almost like a pistol, and now the flash doesn't fire. It doesn't appear to be the bulb as I can't hear any broken glass moving around. Does anyone know what could have happened?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't fire any more sounds like the key symptom that the flash may have self destructed itself. The loud pop may have been the flash capacitor exploding. Get it checked under warranty.

send it back, sounds like a capacitor blew. If you are still in the exchange period, have the store get you a new one, if it is out of the return period, the importer is very good at getting things replace under warranty.
