Question for Pocket wizard users (580 EX II)

Hi I just purchased the flex TT5 and Mini TT1, when in manual flash mode the distance scale seems all messed up and I have no clue is to why, when it tells me I need to be 7ft from flash to subject and I take the picture it comes out way to over exposed like pure white, then I took the pocket wizards off and used on camera flash and the distance meter showed me I needed to be 30ft from flash to subject, why is it doing that? I also purchased the Metz 58 AF 2 and that flash is right on with the pocket wizards in manual flash mode, but I can't get the metz to work in ETTL is there a way for the metz to also work in ETTL with the pocket wizards? thanks for your help.

Υes it helps thanks, looks as though Nikon is the only one that works in flash Manual, and Canon only ETTL Bravo Canon well done;(
