Default Best flash for beginner

What would be the best flash for a good price that I can get. I'm not sure how much the wireless ones are but could anyone give me some recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Does the Sony have Flash Exposure Compensation built in? If not, you might consider getting a flash that has that. Its a more advanced feature, but I've found that I use it often... and I am certainly not an expert with flashes.

As for brands, I've heard good things about Metz (think I spelled that right), Sunpak... probably others too, but I'm drawing a blank.

I use the sunpak 383, works great, not expensive at all.
