Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere in forums, although all my searches haven't found anything...

I have a 8700 with a SB 800 flash and intend to purchase an Alpha100 when finally available. I've got a bunch of lenses previously used with my mothballed Dynax 500si Super, hence the reason for what I consider to be an ideal upgrade to the new Alpha.

So the question is : Will I be able to use SB 800 flash with Alpha100, and utililise most of it's features ???

I understand the immediate hotshoe incompatibility....

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

Looks much like no unless you'll find some kind adapter.

Brand shoes are reason I would prefer everyone to get Metz MZ-serie flash unless they know they're going to stay with same brand cameras.

Have to agree with ET on this one. You will not be able to use your SB800 with the new Sony dSLR. The TTL flash sytems we use today require the electronics in both the camera AND flash to be able to work (at least in TTL mode).

I am sure there are adapters that you can get that will allow you to use the SB800 in manual mode, but not TTL.

Better & safe way is to buy a new flash as I do it this week.

100% sure that the Nikon SB-800 will never be able to work with your Sony as your Sony use the same KM type shoe...Sorry!

Here my las addition to my already large strobes collection
