I also use the lense ring all the time with a uv filter for protection against dust. I can tell no difference in picture quality with the filter on all the time.

Nope. I don't want any glass between my lens and the memory card. No filter for me. I try to be careful but when dust and/or rain hits the lens, I simply clean it off.

When a pebble or anything else hits it what will you do?
Can't be TOTALLY careful ALL the time! S... happens.................. |

You could also drop it off a cliff into a rageing river to only stop at the bottom of a waterfall! :shock:
