Default HS10 and an early moon

It was a little guessing at the right settings, but things worked out pretty well. First image shows full moon disc, at a too slow shutter (10s). With that much zoom, the rotation of planet earth causes motionblur, so really the slowest shutter should not exceeed 1 second, but preferably even faster. I tried higher iso versions, but failed to get the settings correct for a well exposed image.

other image is a resize + sharpened of the original, below a 100% crop not sharpened, underneath a sharpened version of it. The image turned out much better than I expected; With the slow f5.6 lens, I doubted if I could get the shutter fast enough, but it worked just fine; even at iso100

It did prove quite difficult to use the manual focus; Well, the tripod I used isn't the most sturdy in the world; but the manual focusring is rather difficult to reach, and with the camera at full tele you really need it to be rock steady to tweak the focus right.

happy shooting! GB
