Default 10-days of images from the X-S1

G'day all

I've had the X-s1 now for 10 days & love it
As a camera it is replacing my old Panasonic FZ30 with its 12x Leica lens [it has gone to a digital-beginner coming from a film slr] and the Pentax Kx [that bugs me to hell with both dust & "I never have the right lens with me" issues]

As a camera it seems to be the same size & weight of the Pentax with its Sigma 18-125 lens ~ the 'however' is that the X-s1 has a 26x zoom lens of 24mm - 624mm in film camera terms [or 18-470mm in dSLR terms]

My style of imagery has always been towards the 'long' end of things: back in film camera days my 'std' lens back in those days being the 100-300mm zoom ~ with my suite of lenses going out a 1000mm used for wildlife stuff

On my Flickr site I have posted an image set for the camera - here I'll link just a few images for those interested in a qwik look... All images are ex-camera except for down-sizing ... no pp has been done with levels, contrast or sharpening etc

1- "over the moon" - a pelican surveying the world around

2- "dawn fog" - hand held @ 1/80sec with lens out to 180mm eq, ISO-1600

3- "dawn fog-2" where the camera in EXR mode shot 4x exposures @ combined them into 1 final image, ISO-1600 [again hand-held]

4- "willy wagtail" bird hunting for insects in the grass

5- Sunrise

6- Contre-jour ... [against the light] people splashing in the waves

As always, comments welcome

In a separate post, I will show some results from the X-s1 EXR & digital zoom operations

Regards, Phil

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my HS-20, Phil. I'll be following your stuff with interest.

Great pictures. I see in the first photo you got it down to half an orb.
