Default Format or Delete....?

I am a new user of finepix 602z
What is the best way to keep the kong life of the SM cards or CF cards?
1. Formating the card after any download pictures?
2. Delete files by camera after downlod the pictures?
Many Thanks

Treat the cards like your hard drive, you should only need to 'format' them once, unless you get 'can't read' or 'bad card' error messages. In fact repeated formatting might bring more problems.

Copy/delete/move to pc via a reader, are normal file commands. Writing to and reading the card in the cam or reader does not change its lowish level 'format' - only the files on the card. UNLESS you crash the card by switching off or removing batts when the cam is writing to it or if you re- format it in your pc to the wrong standard.

Unlike Windows, which sorts out lost clusters after a crash, the cam software won't do it so you either recover the card with a utility in your pc -or re-format if the lost pics are not valuable.

In practice, the life of your card will be the time to the next bigger one at a fraction of the price you paid now!
