Thanks for reading. I just purchased a s5100 and won't have time to printpictures or even see them on the computer before jumping on a plane in a week. I'm backpacking in Asia. I'll start inIndia. It's my first digital camera.

I've discovered vingetting on shots set at the first 3 zoom settings. o.k. after.

I know this:

keep atlowestISO and highest Mpixfor best quality, and Raw.

white balance : for indoors only, custom when more than one typelight source

chrome:*****when to use this?

photometry:**** when to use spot/multi/average?

sharpness: (****should i always leave in normal and forget about it?) book says soft for people/hard for straight lines/normal most of the time

ntsc or pal? i'll be shooting in asia and viewing but ultimately want usa compatiblity

discharge: sounds like a good feature for battery rejuvenation. but is it good to heat up the camera, etc.? is it always safe to use this? i think why risk it?

for Humid tropical weather does camera need to be in airtight bag as much as possible?

can i copy the software CD at kinkos or on some computer to take a copy or 2?

should i plan on panaramas, stitching shots together or is this a time intensive process to be done sparingly?

Any other tips?

Thank You very much.
